The target tug version of the Canberra was used to tow an unmanned drone, a fabric drogue or other kind of target, for the purposes of gun or missile target practice. The under-surfaces were painted in bright "do not shoot at me" yellow and black stripes.
This particular Canberra was transferred to the RAF from the Royal Navy's FRADU and retained that unit's Light Aircraft Grey color scheme.
