U.S. Army M925A1 Gun Truck, Iraq 2003

During Operation Iraqi Freedom the 7th Transportation Battalion deployed to Camp Anaconda, Iraq, and provided command and control for truck convoys in the most heavily ambushed area in Iraq, the Sunni Triangle. Some of their trucks were converted to "Gun Trucks" by welding steel plate salvaged from scrap yards to the side of the truck. The M66 ring mount with a heavy .50 calare M2HB machine gun was fitted to the cargo deck, also protected by steel sheets. A wire-cutting device was mounted to the front bumper and the exhaust pipe was extended to deflect the exhaust gases away from the face of the gunner.
